The Australian Booksellers Association is the official national body representing booksellers across Australia. As a not-for-profit organisation, our association provides education and training, advocacy and national campaign marketing support. We recognise and celebrate the special role that books and bookselling play in society – creating community, supporting ideas and creativity, and opening doors to other worlds and experiences.
Our membership includes over 550 members and is a cross-section of booksellers from small to large, independent, second-hand, franchise, online, specialist and campus booksellers. We aim to support our members and emphasise the significance of bookselling with initiatives such as Love Your Bookshop Day, our annual conference, training days, the Kid’s Reading Guide, the Australian Book Voucher scheme and social media activity.
As well as support and networking, our members also have the opportunity to access a wide range of business services through our member benefit partnerships. One of our biggest partnerships is Australia Post, which offers significant savings for domestic and international eParcel postage rates for members signed up to the ABA eParcel scheme.
The association has recently launched Booksellers' Choice, a new opt-in member benefit and consists of group offers on publishers’ new releases, backlist and promotional deals, and a range of marketing assets, including Booksellers’ Choice Summer Guide and a Monthly Newsletter beginning in 2020.
