COVIDSafe plan

Every Victorian business that is open must follow the six COVIDSafe principles to help prevent future outbreaks of coronavirus (COVID-19).

COVIDSafe Plan template is available to help businesses plan and take action to prevent the introduction of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the workplace.

Businesses can also access a collection of signage, posters and questionnaires to assist in communicating key messages to workers and customers.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) translated informationn for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is also available online for businesses and industry.

Victorian Government Authorised Officers are closely monitoring and inspecting businesses to ensure they are following the six COVIDSafe principles. There are significant penalties, including fines and prohibition notices, for businesses that fail to comply.

We must do everything we can to keep our communities safe and prevent unexpected cases of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Record keeping requirements

We are able to confirm that you will NOT be required to keep a record of the customers who enter your bookshops.

However, you will need to keep a record of publisher rep visits and any other appointments. We will update this information via email to members if required.

Record keeping is required of all workers, customers and visitors (including contractors and sub-contractors) who attend the Work Premises for longer than 15 minutes. The record keeping must include first name, contact phone number, time and date in which they visited, and the areas of the retail facility that they attended.

For markets, market stalls, retail facilities or retail shopping centres, record keeping is not required for customers if it is not reasonably practicable to do so. For example, if your retail business involves a large volume of shoppers or a people browsing (e.g. a supermarket, a homewares store).

However, if your retail facility serves customers by appointment, you are required to keep records of your customers, including: first name, contact phone number, time and date in which they visited, and the areas of the retail facility that they attended.

We can also confirm that  ‘Density quotient of one person per four metres squared applies on each indoor space’.
